Drag racing update...AN ARREST
I received the following from the Greenburgh Police Chief, Chris McNerney. Drag racing has been a problem on Central Ave for years. We passed legislation
last year authorizing the town to forfeiture vehicles -when drivers were convicted of drag racing. White Plains and Yonkers have similar laws.
PAUL FEINER
We are continuing and even stepping up enforcement in anticipation of the warm weather. We made an arrest this week for drag racing, Two BMW’s were seen by one of our officers- who was specifically out there on a speed enforcement detail- racing down Central Avenue. The officer attempted to stop the cars but the operators refused to stop. The vehicles crashed into each other (one rear-ended the other) on South Central Avenue near Underhill Road. Both operators were arrested and we are holding the cars with an eye toward seizing them under our new local law. The operators were Manhattan residents.
