Get whisked away into a night of magic as Sleepy Hollow High School (SHHS) students take the stage in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella.’ SHHS adaptation is about breaking patterns and pursuing your dreams.

Approximately 45 students, between cast, crew and orchestra, have been working diligently for the past several months in order to make this musical a success.

“Working behind the scenes of ‘Cinderella’ has been incredible. From hours and hours of building, to hours of practicing,” said stage manager senior Lizbeth Patino.

Professional orchestra players have been hired to join students in the pit, a choreographer was hired to teach the cast members dances for certain scenes, as well as a set and costumes were rented from a warehouse, all in an effort to provide theater goers a once in a lifetime experience.

“I’m thrilled, I had this show in mind for two years for this particular group of students,” said Natalie Arneson, Director of Musicals at Sleepy Hollow High School and Middle School. “This has been a group effort, a district-wide effort. A lot of parents helped as well and have been really awesome in providing the support that we needed.”

Ms. Arneson described the musical as a way of showing that “impossible things are happening everyday” and if you “have a dream go get it.”

Maya Batheja, a senior, plays the main character Cinderella and says that

“being part of Cinderella has been such a wonderful experience. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to show others that people that look like me can also be a princess. I am so proud of what we have put together.”

This musical is the perfect family show with lots of singing and dancing to keep everyone entertained. “There's going to be a lot of little kids coming here, it might be their first time experiencing a musical. I know lots of people will walk away with this feeling of magic,” said Ms. Arneson.

There are four performances scheduled to take place from Friday, April 5 through Sunday, April 7. Tickets are free and seating can be reserved online at Showtix4u.com
