Dyslexia-- literacy as a human right
Laurie Puhn Feinstein is focusing attention on Dyslexia and literacy as a human right. Her son is overcoming the challenges of Dyslexia
Laurie Puhn Feinstein is a resident of Greenburgh. She graduated from Harvard University. She is an attorney, author and human rights activist. She is a member of the Greenburgh Human Rights Advisory Committee. Over the last two years, Laurie has become immersed in the world of Dyslexia and literacy due to her own child's reading difficulties and is now finding that her expertise in law, human rights and advocacy comes together to give her the platform to raise awareness of literacy as a human right.
I recently interviewed Laurie on my WVOX radio program. She discusses how she is helping her son overcome the challenges of Dyslexia. And, the importance of schools providing the help children need to overcome literacy challenges.
If your child has Dyslexia please note that there are many highly accomplished people who have or had Dyslexia. Albert Einstein, Jennifer Aniston, Tom Cruise, Whoopi Goldberg Spike Lee, Jay Leno, Keanu Reeves, Steven Spielberg, John Travolta, Henry "the Fonz" Winkler, Harry Belafonte are just a few of the hundreds.
