Elmsford Students Participate in "Day of Service"

Students Give Back to School, Community

Students from Alexander Hamilton Jr./Sr. High School in the Elmsford Union Free School District enthusiastically embraced the idea of volunteerism and giving back to others by participating in the district’s annual “Day of Service” Nov. 22.

Some of those activities included packing 54 boxes of food, including frozen turkeys, for local families to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday, helping out at Sam’s Club in Elmsford and cleaning up the trail along the Saw Mill River.

All around the high school, students were busy on various projects. In addition to creating personalized cards for veterans, other seventh-graders made paper snowflakes, to be distributed to local businesses and then placed on their windows as a way of making the village look more festive during the holiday season.

The Alexander Hamilton family of students and staff donated some of the food that was distributed, with a large portion of it coming from local businesses Stop and Shop, Sam’s Club and Ray Catena BMW of Westchester.
