"TARRYTOWN, NY, October 26, 2010 – The Lower Hudson Council of Administrative Women in Education (LHCAWE), an organization created to empower women in education, will be having its first event of the 2010-2011 school year on Tuesday, October 26, from 4:30 pm to 8 pm at the Westchester Marriott Hotel in Tarrytown, Westchester County, New York. Dinner attendees from Westchester County and the tri-state area are invited to attend. Reservations are required.

One of the unique features of this event is that participants will have the opportunity to network with educational leaders, have their resumés reviewed and discuss strategies for attaining administrative positions.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Yvette Jackson, is the CEO of the National Urban Alliance for Effective Education, a non-profit which holds the belief that all public school children can achieve the high intellectual performances demanded by our ever changing global community. She will be discussing how she climbed the leadership ladder from teacher to administrator to Chief Executive Officer and author. Dr. Jackson has been involved in the education world since 1973 and previously held positions at the Yonkers Board of Education and the New York City Public Schools. She has been a guest lecturer at the Harvard University Principals' Center and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). Her latest book, The Pedagogy of Confidence, will be available this coming winter.

Rally Education, a publishing company, will exhibit educational materials and leadership books and will be available for questions as well.

On the day of the event, registration and networking will take place from 4:30 to 5:30 and dinner will commence at 5:45 pm. The cost of the event is $50.00.
