Writer's Boot Camp: How to Get a Literary Agent

Workshops and panel discussions will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Program participants will learn what agents are looking for and how to distinguish themselves from the myriad submissions that agents receive. Other topics to be covered include:

  • requirements for current fiction, memoir, and nonfiction book proposals
  • the importance of platform and how to build one
  • how to research and meet agents
  • features of the query letter that will get your work requested

Distinguished literary panelists include:

  • Jessica Bram, author of Happily Ever After Divorce: Notes on a Joyful Journey
  • Lucy Hedrick, fiction author of Premarital Asset-s
  • Prill Boyle, fiction author of Defying Gravity: A Celebration of Late-Blooming Women
  • Nina Nelson, author of the middle-grade children's book, Bringing the Boy Home
  • Denise Marcil, President & founder, Denise Marcil Literary Agency, NYC, who has sold almost 2,000 books
