Fascinating New Art Exhibit at the Greenburgh Public Library, 300 Tarrytown Road, Elmsford, NY 10523

The Greenburgh Library of Westchester County will host an exhibition of Oriental Calligraphy by a South Korean artist, Haeng Seok Kwon from June 15, 2013 until July 31, 2013. Mr. Kwon has been an active calligraphy artist for more than 20 years and won numerous contests. His artworks have been displayed in many Calligraphy exhibitions in South Korea.
The history of Oriental Calligraphy dated back many thousand years. With four main tools such as brush, ink, paper and inkstone, the calligraphy artists create artworks which show beauty of nature, wisdom of life and many other interesting subjects. The calligraphy artworks are important part of Asian cultural heritage.
Mr. Kwon’s works represent Asian philosophy such as Buddhism and Confucianism. He also creates many artworks representing well-known poems. Some of his works consist of many characters while some others have only one or a few characters written. In Asian culture, a brief message often carries lots of philosophical ideas. Mr. Kwon’s artwork shows mastery of calligraphy techniques in many different styles.
