Firefighters Extricate Youth from Swing

A child got stuck in a Sleepy Hollow park swing but was not injured, police report.

Sleepy Hollow police responded to an emergency call that a child was stuck in the swing in Barnhart park on April 7 at 6:17 p.m.

The fire department was dispatched along with officers and an ambulance. 

An officer on the scene reported that the child was placed in the toddler swing by her cousin and got stuck.

Police Chief Gregory Camp said the 6-year-old was just too big for the toddler swing.

The fire department had to cut the chain links and wiggle the child free from the swing.

DPW foreman Richard Gross was on the scene.

The parent was notified and arrived at the scene, further refusing medical attention for the child.
