Another week of the fall season is in the books for Sleepy Hollow Football Club. We play in most types of weather, except thunder and lightning, and this weekend saw many teams and their fans enduring cool temperatures and blustery winds while on the field. Undeterred by unfavorable conditions or pesky pre-Halloween traffic around town, our SHFC players show determination and drive to play their best under whatever the circumstances.
Here are recaps of all SHFC games this past weekend:
2010 Boys All Reds continued their unbeaten streak with a nice 4-0 win over Edgemont Jaguars at home. The first half was tight, with both teams getting several scoring chances but coming up empty. In the second half, the All Reds offense started clicking. The amazing full backs both played striker and they both scored! Goals from Andrew Lucchetti, Luca Bruno, Denis Suqui and Nico Barbosa and stout defense lead to the Jaguars running for the hills by the last whistle.

2010 Girls Bandits traveled to Armonk last Sunday and celebrated a victorious 4-0 shut out against the Castleford Pumas (4-2 overall). The Bandits dominated the first half with a strong offense led by Katie Yalmokas, Ada Chalfy, and Lily Glynn. Fabulous defensive plays by Noa Levine and Marianna Patsch and goal keeping by Natalia Hargrave with 2 great saves kept the Pumas from scoring in the first half.

The second half featured Sabrina Graham in the goal box with a few great saves. Mackenzie Linhart, Ada Chalfy and Marley DeFilippis put on offensive pressure. Chalfy scored two strong goals in the second half and Linhart contributed with an unassisted breakaway goal as well. The girls are working on passing and communication and playing their position. Their enthusiasm for the game and great display of effort is continuously fun to watch.
The Bandits play their next game on Sunday, October 28 at 3:00 pm at their home field at Pocantico Hills School against the Chappaqua Blue.
2009 Boys United defeated the Greenburgh Predators 2 -1 on Sunday. After being down 1-0 early on, Kyle DeLucia scored the two goals, with the help of Jayden Morocho and Caesar Blanco. The United defense was strong. Lead by goalie, Dylan Valenti, and assisted by Joseph Ruiz and Kayden Pisani, the Predators were held off from any more scoring. It was a great Sunday for Team United!
The United travel to the JPSC Pumas White on October 28.
2009 Boys Red Lions travelled to the Manhattan Sevilla and returned with a 3-1 win. Coached by Brad Scheller, the Red Lions hope to continue their winning streak on October 28 on the road against the Rye Raiders.
2009 Girls Red Fury coached by Katie McMahon, John Sutherland and Jim McGovern hosted the LMFC Blue Rockets at home at Pocantico Hills field. The score is not available. On Sunday, October 28, they travel to the Wolfgang Lady Wolves.

2008 Boys Fusion hosted a nail biter with Eastchester Typhoon. Fusion scored first at 20’ when Jezrael Panama converted on an assist from Sean Mackiewicz. First half goalie Justin Paute had some excellent saves, including a high leap on a very close free kick, and Fusion held 1-0 into halftime.
The second half saw Fusion running, but unable to finish many opportunities, perhaps due to the windy conditions or due to Typhoon’s capable goalie. Pressure and multiple attempts each from Jack Zhunio, Jaiden Brito, Kieran Degen, Pierce Davis and Edwin Dutan kept Typhoon on guard.
Defensive play from Aiden Lee, Bruno Flores, Dylan Pasato, Raul Socualaya and second half goalie Dylan Largo was solid for much of the game. Unfortunately, with about 10 minutes left to play, Typhoon was able to sneak one in to equalize. With the tide seeming to be turning in their favor, they appeared to have Fusion up against the ropes. Paute, now at sweeper, had an exceptional late defensive clear while goalie Largo was out of the box, surely staving off Typhoon’s go-ahead goal.
With frenzied play as the clock ran down, Fusion were finally able to break through when Ian Papadopoulos was able to break away and score an out of bounds. Playing off a corner cross, Panama found Mackiewicz for the winner 2-1. Fusion currently lead their division with a record of 6-0 and will travel to the Harrison Crusaders on Sunday, October 28.
2008 Boys River Sharks travelled to the Don Bosco Hawks Hurricanes and were defeated 5-1. With a record of 3-2-1, they will travel to the JPSC Red on Sunday, October 28. The River Sharks are coached by Ed Greenberg, Gerardo Soto and Michael Glynn.
2007 Girls Blaze met with Somers Cosmos and came away with a decisive 4-0 win. Both teams were aggressive and out there to win. The Blaze demonstrated strong ownership of the ball and their passing game has grown stronger.
In the first few minutes of the half, the Gemma Fante quickly scored the first goal on a penalty shot. It was some incredible teamwork that set up the second goal with a great pass from Gabby Disney to Julissa Casiano for a second goal, bringing the score to 2-0. Kayla McGuigan had several attempts on goal supported by teammates Maggie Yalmokas, Penny McVey, Lizzie Molina, Juliana Marvin and Zoey Murphy, who hustled and showed some impressive field coverage.
Throughout the game we saw several Blaze attempts on goal from Kayla McGuigan, Gemma Fante and Zoey Murphy. As well as several thwarted attempts by Emily Aridas in goal and some very impressive punts. As well as all star coverage from Sami Marvin and Meghan O’Hanlon. In the second half, Julissa Casiano, scored two additional goals, rounding out her game count to three and the Blaze final at a 4-0 shutout.
