Greenburgh census - we reached 2010 response: one month left

Hope that our response rate will continue to increase. Every response means town gets more federal/state grants

GREENBURGH CENSUS ACCOMPLISHMENT- SAME RESPONSE AS IN 2010 WITH ONE MONTH TO GO (likely to be higher than 2010 response rates)
TOWN TO RECEIVE MORE FEDERAL/STATE GRANTS FOR EVERY PERSON WHO RESPONDS --need more responses

Local governments like Greenburgh receive federal and state government financial assistance based on our population. Every ten years the federal government conducts a census. The more people who respond to the census - the more money the town and school districts receive. Representation in the House of Representatives, NYS Senate, Assembly and Westchester County Board of Legislators is based on population.
Ten years ago 72.3% of the people living in Greenburgh responded to the questionnaire. The 2020 census is currently taking place -and will continue till the end of September. Earlier this week the town hit an important accomplishment- we were the 15th municipality in Westchester to reach our 2010 response rate. We are doing better than many communities in the United States. As of 8/9 the national response rate was 63.3%. The New York State response rate was 59.1%. And the Westchester County response rate was 64.3%. With only one month to go -we need to make a greater push to get more responses from those who did not answer the census.

Please respond. We need more participation. If you don't want someone knocking on your door or if you want your taxes to be less because the town and school districts will receive more funding- you should respond.
