Patel, a senior at Ardsley High School and president of the Silver Lining Club, a community service club, has been participating in monthly midnight runs-helping the hungry and homeless. She and other volunteers typically get to New York City about 10 p.m. on Saturday nights and leave around 1 a.m.

Patel brings food, clothing and more important respect and friendship to those in need and offers a positive energy that is powerful that it helps break down barriers. She relates well to volunteers of all ages and those on the street.
