Greenburgh Student Heads to National Spelling Bee

This is the third year in a row for the Richard J. Bailey School student.

A Greenburgh School District student will be going to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Harshita Shet, who attends the Richard J. Bailey School, has won the competition for three years in row.

Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner said Shet will be going to Washington, DC to compete and the event will be televised.

Feiner said this year’s local competition was exciting and saw Katie Eng and Emma Eng, twins, coming in second and third, respectively.

FIOS1News.com said Shet is known as “Queen Bee” because of her spelling skills.

She will be the only student from Westchester County to participate in the spelling competition.

The national spelling bee will be held from May 22 through May 27 in National Harbor, MD.
