Hartsdale Resident Nan Chu Dies from Injuries Following House Fire

The fire at the Chu's Frost Lane home was reported just after 6 a.m. on May 5.

Eighty-five-year-old Hartsdale resident Nan Chu died Tuesday from the injuries she suffered in the May 5 house fire that also took the life of her husband, 89-year-old John Chu.

According to a report in The Journal News, smoke inhalation and complications from pneumonia were the cause of death for Nan Chu, who died three weeks after the blaze at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

The exact cause of the early morning fire at the Chu's Frost Lane home was still under investigation, but fire personal told Westchester News 12 that the fire started in the kitchen and could have been the result of cooking oil or John Chu's clothing catching on fire.

Nan Chu, according to the Hartsdale Fire Department's report, was found in one of the bedrooms before being transported to Westchester Medical.
