Located on Central Avenue near the corner of Washington Street in Tarrytown is a tucked-away motorcycle shop called Top Dead Center, owned by proprietor Jim Reich.
Born and raised in Irvington, Reich received his first motorized scooter when he was 8 years old and a life long passion was launched. In his earlier careers, his pursuits included restaurants and finance, but motorcycles have remained his great love and fascination.
He rented his current location 16 years ago as Tarrytown had the right kind of space for what he wanted to do. Unlike many other businesses, that have seen their bottom line suffer in this current economy, his operation remains steady and he is grateful for that.

Self-trained as a mechanic, he currently sells, repairs, restores and customizes motorcycles for a diverse and loyal clientele. His customers range from avid collectors to people who rely on their motorcycle for basic transportation. Restoration is the favorite part of his work day and his personal favorite bike is the 1947 Harley Knucklehead.
While creating the images that illustrate this article, Peter Kringas of Sleepy Hollow came by the shop.

“I’ve known Jeff for 3 years and he has never steered me wrong. He sold me both my first and second bikes. I think he is a great mechanic, honest in his dealings and really knows his stuff.”
