2013: Year of the Lion in the Tarrytowns
After a successful run at the elementary school, Sleepy Hollow Middle School is up next to pilot new adaptations of 'The Lion King' musical.
The Year of the Lion continues in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.
The Lion King Jr is coming to Sleepy Hollow Middle School, thanks to the Foundation for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns.
Disney Theatrical Group chose two Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow schools to pilot new adaptations of the classic musical The Lion King for young performers and audiences.

After the triumphant performance of the fourth and fifth graders at Washington Irving School in the YMCA production of The Lion King Kids in November, Sleepy Hollow Middle School will perform The Lion King Jr., an hour-long version of the Broadway musical on January 25.
This production is directed by Peter Royston and includes musical direction by Dan Moriarty, choreography by Katy Wood and extraordinary costumes and sets created by a group of wildly creative and generous parents.

Most importantly, the show features over 70 sixth, seventh and eighth graders as the Lions, Hyenas and other animals of The Lion King.
Lion King Jr. is sponsored by the school district and could not have been possible without the generosity of the Foundation for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns.
Disney chose our schools - along with Harlem School of the Arts - to test these new adaptations of The Lion King before they are released for other schools to perform.
