Latest Details on Friday’s Stormy and Rainy Weather in Tarrytown

Some much-needed rain is on the way and "flash flooding" is possible in and around Sleepy Hollow.

The National Weather Service provided new information on the possible stormy weather in its forecast update Thursday morning.

A “Hazardous Weather Outlook” has been issued for all Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties on Friday and the region could see between 1-2 inches of rain on Friday alone.

In the lower Hudson Valley, the National Weather Service said a low pressure system will approach the area tonight and impact Friday's weather.

There is a “threat for flash flooding” that exists from thunderstorms late tonight into Friday afternoon with a limited threat for severe weather. The weather service does say that the forecast concerning the unsettled weather on Friday is still very much subject to change and they will continue to pinpoint it.

And then on Friday afternoon and into the early evening there is a chance for heavy rain and potential flooding as thunderstorms move through the area.

  • Today: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between noon and 4pm, then a slight chance of thunderstorms after 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Light south wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Tonight: A chance of rain before midnight, then a chance of rain and thunderstorms between midnight and 3am, then rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 71. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Friday: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 80. North wind 8 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
  • Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. North wind 6 to 9 mph.
  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon.
  • Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70.
  • Sunday: A 50 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82.
  • Sunday Night: A 50 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69.
