Local Moms Launch WeeWestchester.com
The founders debuted their new website in May and are including all things kid-friendly on WeeWestchester.
Three Scarsdale moms have joined forces to create a new, go-to website for parents in Westchester.
WeeWestchester.com debuted on May 1, and founders Brooke Lea Foster, Elizabeth Detmer and Elizabeth Leach are excited to bring all things kid-friendly to the area.
“We were always chatting with each other and other local moms…sharing ideas, new restaurant openings, great recipes,” Elizabeth Detmer said. “One of the things we felt was there was a void. [There was] no central place to find Westchester-specific information.”

WeeWestcher.com features a daily events calendar, date-night ideas, a shopping section and restaurant and food reviews and tips. The founders do all of the daily writing and editing themselves. A friend helped them design the site.
Currently, the website founders are all stay-at-home moms living in Scarsdale. Foster, mom of a two-year old son, has a background in journalism; Detmer, mom of two-year-old twins, has an advertising and publishing background; and Leach, mom of girls ages three and five, is a former blogger and writer.

They would often wake up and “have no idea what to do” with the kids, Detmer said.
“We really wanted an events calendar,” Foster said.
The mothers, all transplants from NYC, wanted to see a centralized, events calendar for kid-friendly happenings throughout all of the towns in Westchester, Foster said.
“We literally created the site we crave as moms,” Foster said. “And we actually use it…we check the calendar.”
On the first day the site launched, WeeWestchester.com received 1,500 page views, without any advertising or outreach.
The founders have been receiving “really, really, really amazing feedback,” Foster said.
The ladies, who became friends through playgroups and park meet-ups, researched “every, single venue in Westchester” to scope out kid-friendly events. The focus is on low-cost, no-registration-required, get up and go events.
Since launching, the site has already generated advertising interest.
The goal is to “reach as many moms as possible and get more people involved on the site,” Foster said. “I’d love us to be able to cover more events all over Westchester.”
“Long-term we’d really like to be the go-to source for moms for all of Westchester,” she said.
Although there are other parenting sites around, “we are local moms curating the county for you,” Foster said.
