More Than $15,000 Raised for Greenburgh Cop's Kidney Transplant

Officer Jeff Cerone is a nine-year veteran of the force.

Greenburgh Police Off. Jeff Cerone is in need of a new kidney, and friends, family and supporters are stepping up financially to help out the nine-year veteran of the force.

As of today, Sept. 15, a GoFundMe page established in his honor has raised more than $15,600 toward goal of $50,000.

Cerone suffers from a rare genetic defect that deteriorates the kidneys, and without a transplant, his law enforcement career would come to an end because he would require dialysis.

In addition to monetary donations to go toward the transplant, the page’s organizers also are looking for a potential kidney donor.

“Officer Cerone could use the help..... He has answered the publics call for help over nine years without hesitation, now for the first time this fine officer needs the public’s help,” organizers wrote.

“If you are interested in taking the FIRST STEP in helping Jeff Cerone on the road to recovery, please take time to fill out a donor survey provided by Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.

“Donor Inquiries can be made to Jennifer Van Beaver at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Please call (212)-305-6469.
The other way you can help is by making a donation here on gofundme.com. This would help alleviate the cost of doctor appointments, medicines, and the total cost of the surgery.”
