Motorcycle Safety Event Being Planned for Greenburgh

The town supervisor and police chief have formed a Motorcycle Safety Task Force.

GREENBURGH, NY — Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner is organizing a motorcycle safety event for sometime in April.

He and Police Chief Chris McNerney formed a Motorcycle Safety Task Force last September, after a Greenburgh resident died in a motorcycle accident across from Greenburgh Town Hall.

"Every year there are motorcycle fatalities in Westchester and around the nation," Feiner said in an email. "Up to 5,000 people a year die in motorcycle related accidents. Motorcycle accidents typically occur when motorcyclists are speeding or when there is a head on collision, with motorists who fail to spot the motorcycle."

Anyone who is interested in helping the Task Force promote motorcycle safety and assisting with this safety initiative should email Paul Feiner at pfeiner@greenburghny.com.

"If this safety initiative saves even one life, it's worth the effort," Feiner said.
