Multiplex Cinemas In Greenburgh To Close
No agreement has been reached with new tenants for commercial uses of the premises.

GREENBURGH, NY — Greenburgh will be losing a movie theater in 2019. Town of Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner received a letter from the lawyer of the owner of 320 Saw Mill River Rd. saying that the lease of National Amusement Multiplex Cinemas expires May 31, 2019, and will not be renewed.
No agreement has been reached with new tenants for commercial uses of the premises, Feiner said.
Feiner said he’s been told there has been a steady downturn in attendance and profitability at the theater.

“I’m obviously disappointed since I know that many residents have enjoyed the theater and businesses at the site over the years,” Feiner said.
The property owner’s lawyer said there was nothing to the rumor that there are plans to develop the property with low-income housing.

Feiner said that the site is currently zoned as Designed Shopping District, which permits retail stores, including big-box retail, fully enclosed commercial recreation, restaurants and cinemas.
