New Conference for Authors Ready to Be Published Will Bow In at Sarah Lawrence College on June 21, 2014

The first annual Publish and Promote Your Book Conference will be held on the  Bronxville campus of Sarah Lawrence College on Saturday, June 21, 2014. 

Writers who are ready to publish their books will be offered advice and opportunities to meet with publishing-industry professionals. The conference will be conducted by The Writing Institute of Sarah Lawrence College in the Heimbold Visual Arts Center and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Sessions are included on how to pitch to literary agents and major publishing-house editors and promoting a book through use of social media. A panel discussion about self-publishing is also scheduled.

Registrants may elect to discuss their work with prominent agents and/or editors (three meetings of 15-minute duration per meeting). Accessibility may be limited depending on the response by attendees to participate.

  • 8:30-9:30 a.m. Registration and networking breakfast
  • 9:45-11 a.m. Agents panel 
  • 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Editors panel
  • 12:30-1:30 p.m. Lunch
  • 1:45-3 p.m. "Promoting Your Book Through Social Media and PR"
  • 3:15-4:15 p.m. "Trials, Tribulations, and Benefits of Self-Publishing in Today's Market"
  • 3-5 p.m. Pitch sessions

Registration

The admission fee is $275 per person. An additional fee of $125 per person applies for participating in three one-on-one pitch meetings with agents. Seating availability is limited.
