NYS to repave Dobbs Ferry Road--

conditions of NYS roads was a major issue for Greenburgh student interns in 2018 Glad NYS listened!

Dobbs Ferry Road to be repaved. In 2018 our Greenburgh summer interns organized a major lobbying effort highlighting conditions on New York State roads. They met with the Regional Director of the NYS Department of Transportation and the leadership team, reached out to Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins and Assemblyman Tom Abinanti, organized on line petition drives and letter writing campaigns. And were interviewed by the media.

Good news!!! Spoke with Dina Colavito, Engineer with the NYS Department of Transportation and was advised that the state will be repaving 100 B (Dobbs Ferry Road. Work is expected to start sometime in September. Work will encompass milling and paving, drainage, loops, striping & ADA ramps, from the Sprain Brook Parkway to Route 119. This is a nighttime contract with minimal daytime hours.

I am very grateful to NYS for this work. Dobbs Ferry Road was one of the worst NYS roads located in Greenburgh - with many large potholes. Received numerous complaints in recent years. I am also pleased that NYS repaved Saw Mill River Road in Ardsley (another state road in terrible condition) and Hillside Ave near Town Hall this spring. The NYS Department of Transportation is trying hard to be responsive to our concerns. There are still state roads in bad shape but this is a great start. I also am pleased that the state is sending a positive message to the students who were involved in this initiative that their voice does count and that they can make a positive difference and be heard.
