Park Bridge To Be Dedicated In Greenburgh

The Boy Scout designed and built a bridge over a stream as part of a community service project.

GREENBURGH, NY — A Greenburgh 18-year-old will be honored by the town board after a bridge he designed and built at East Rumbrook Park is dedicated. Supervisor Paul Feiner said Hari Channagiri, who graduated in May from Stepinac High School and will be attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the fall, came up with a plan to build a bridge over a stream at East Rumbrook Park as a community service project for the Boy Scouts.

After contacting local authorities, he began work constructing a bridge over a stream at the park. The stream had been eroding the soil and making it difficult for people cross from one part of the trail to the other side without getting wet, Feiner said.

Channagiri began the project in March and completed in the last week of May.

He enlisted some handymen who helped with measuring, cutting and mixing cement.

“Hari is an exceptional young man and the town is very grateful to him for his hard work, dedication and leadership skills,” Feiner said. “His efforts will be appreciated by residents of the town who enjoy East Rumbrook Park for many years to come.”
