Patch's Signature Pizza Pursuit: Grandma's and Grandpa's Pizza at Mr. Nick's in Tarrytown
Although not on the menu and having little similarity (other than their square shapes), these two pies plus two new round pies are at the top of Mr. Nick's Brick Oven Pizza popularity list.
If you look, you won't find any of four recently introduced specialty pizzas on the menu at But all have risen to the top of the Tarrytown pizzeria's popularity list, owner Nick Krasniqi said.
Two of the new pies, called Grandma's and Grandpa's Pizzas, have square shapes, are available in only one size and can be bought by the slice or pie.

The other two newly introduced pies, Mimosa and chicken-bacon-ranch, are conventional (round) pizzas and come in three sizes.
- Grandma's Pizza. This square-shaped pie has parallel strips of a light cheese accompanied by homemade marinara sauce that was precooked for four hours on a low flame. Extra virgin olive oil is added and the ingredients top a very thin crust. Available in only one size.
- Grandpa's Pizza. Also square-shaped, this pie has sautéed broccoli rabe accompanied by sweet sausage, homemade fresh mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil and fresh garlic—all reside on top of a thin tomato sauce that coats a crust which is thicker than Grandma's Pizza crust. Available in only one size.
- Mimosa. Fresh mozzarella, basil and garlic, tomato sauce and extra virgin olive oil top a very thin crust. Three sizes are offered for this round pizza (personal, small and large).
- Chicken, bacon and ranch. This late bloomer combines fried (not grilled) chicken with bacon, fresh mozzarella and ranch dressing made on the premises. No tomato sauce is used. Three sizes are available for this round pizza (personal, small and large).
Mr. Nick's opened in February, 2011 with a menu that lists 15 specialty menus including margherita (tomato, garlic, oil and mozzarella), Hawaiian (pineapple, ham and mozzarella) and chicken Scarpariello (boneless chicken breast sautéed with garlic, hot and sweet peppers and white wine sauce).
