Phelps Doctor Receives Teacher of the Year Award
Dr. Giovanni Nanna received the Phelps Hospital Northwell Health Teacher of the Year Award

Giovanni Nanna, MD was awarded a Northwell Health Teacher of the Year for his consistent engagement and passion for teaching and helping residents succeed during their residency. Dr. Nanna has received this award because of his patience, hard working attitude, and dedication to teaching residents to become great physicians. Phelp Family Medicine Residency Program Director, Dr. Shantie Harkisoon says, “We are so proud of the Family Medicine Residency Program faculty. Dr. Nanna represents the extraordinary teaching, caring and commitment the faculty has to the Phelps residents, our patients and our community."
Giovanni Nanna is a life-long New York resident. He grew up in Pelham, and currently resides in Pound Ridge. He went to New York University and the Sackler School of Medicine and finished his training at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Nanna is board certified in Internal Medicine and started his career at Phelps Memorial Hospital in 2016. He considers teaching to be the highlight of his career and plans to continue training future doctors for years to come. This is his second Teacher of the Year Award.
