Phelps Hospital Hosts a Free Debate for Seniors
Senior Debate is a lively, give and take session on the topic of the extension of the human life span

On Thursday, October 19, Phelps Hospital will host an exciting new program available to seniors through a collaboration with the International Association for Senior Debate. The IASD is a nonprofit organization that promotes debate and discussion opportunities for senior citizens concerning values, public policy, and the future of the planet. The debate will be held in the Auditorium at Phelps Hospital, 701 North Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, and is from 10:00 - 11:30 am. Participation is free.
The debate question for this session is whether the significant extension of human life would be a good thing for individuals and for society. Senior Debate is a lively, give and take session, where the audience-centered debate method used by the moderator is informal and relaxed. Audience members are not required to give comments or speeches.
Moderator Dr. Thomas Benson, founder of the International Association for Senior Debate, is President Emeritus of Green Mountain College; holds graduate degrees from Harvard and Johns Hopkins; and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Debate Education Association
