UPDATE: Electricity Restoration Slow But Steady Throughout Hudson Valley
The fast-moving storm caused thousands of outages. Crews continue to work on restoring power.

Power outages from Saturday’s thunderstorm are still affecting people in the Hudson Valley, though hundreds/thousands are back on line.
As of 5:30 p.m. Feb. 26, O&R customers still without electricity in Orange County number 543, with 335 affected in Woodbury.
In Wallkill, 146 customers should see power come back on by 8 a.m. Feb. 27.

The remaining scattered outages will likely by resolved by about midnight.
Rockland O&R customers in Suffern and Airmont who are without electricity should see the lights come back on by 7 p.m. Feb. 26 and midnight Feb. 27, respectively.

There are still 2,094 NYSEG customers in Ulster and Orange counties without power.
In Ulster it is isolated to the Town of Shawangunk, with 1,976. The majority is in Pine Bush and some could see restoration by 6 p.m. Feb. 26, but the majority are still being assessed.
There are 121 Orange County customers waiting for the power to be restored.
For Central Hudson, 348 customers in Dutchess County, 238 in Orange County and 2,598 in Ulster County are without electricity.
Esopus is still hardest hit with 1,183 customers waiting for restoration, the time for which is being reevaluated.
8 a.m. Feb. 26 update: In the wake of the fast-moving thunderstorm that hit the Hudson Valley Saturday evening, there are still thousands of people in the area without electricity.
As of 8 a.m. Sunday, Central Hudson is reporting 302 active outages affecting 10,804 customers.
In Dutchess County, there are 1,633 customers with no electricity.
The hardest hit areas are:
- Milan: 295
- Red Hook: 199
- Rhinebeck: 571
- Stanford: 248
There are 88 outages reported in Columbia County.
In Orange County, there are 2,484 affected customers.
The hardest hit areas are:
- Montgomery: 798
- Newburgh: 1,382
Putnam County has 11 customers without power.
Ulster County remains the most affected with 14,149 customers waiting for the power to come back on.
Hardest hit area in Ulster are:
- Shawangunk: 2,154
- Rosendale: 1,399
- Kingston: 1,446
- Esopus: 3,964
O&R customers in Orange County without electricity number 1,736, with 342 in Woodbury and 293 in Crawford being the hardest hit.
O&R Rockland customers in Airmont, Suffern and Ramapo are the only ones waiting for power restoration. There are 68 customers.
Only one Con Edison customer in Westchester, located in Mount Vernon, is without power.
For NYSEG customers, there are 5,742 without power.
In Columbia County, there are 25 customers, 23 of which are in Copake, waiting for power to come back on.
Eight Amenia NYSEG customers are the only ones affected in Dutchess County.
Orange County NYSEG customers waiting for restoration number 566.
- Crawford: 273
- Montgomery: 129
And again Ulster is carrying the majority of affected customers with 2,173 without power.
Of that number, 2,136 are in Shawangunk.

ORIGINAL STORY
A fast-moving severe thunderstorm tore through the Hudson Valley Saturday evening and left thousands of people without electricity.
As of 8 p.m., there were more than 32,000 Central Hudson customers in the dark.
Hardest hit was Ulster County with 17,344 customers waiting for the lights to come on again.
The breakdown is:
- Esopus: 3,219
- City of Kingston: 2,837
- New Paltz: 2,573
- Rosendale: 1,980
- Shawangunk: 1,915
NYSEG customers affected by the storm number more than 4,000.
Again, Ulster County was the hardest hit with 2,217 customers, most of whom are in Shawangunk, without electricity.
Orange County has 1,912 customers and Columbia has 165 customers waiting for power restoration.
Only 390 Con Edison customers are waiting for the lights to come back on.
Pleasantville has the most with 188 customers, followed by New Rochelle with 95.
