Proposed $98M Tarrytown School District Budget On The Ballot May 21

TARRYTOWN, NY — The 2024 budget and school board vote is May 21, and three seats are up for election on the Public School of the Tarrytowns Board of Education.

The proposed spending plan of $97,621,842 is 4.44 percent higher than the current budget.

The tax levy is expected to rise 4.91 percent.

District officials said that the budget would support: salaries, equipment, contractual, supplies and materials, tuition, textbooks, BOCES services, debt service, benefits, transfer to capital and interfund transfers.

Pending budget approval, school district officials said that several improvements are planned: adding needed sections of Spanish classes at the MS/HS, a new social worker at the HS, increased dual language learning in kindergarten, a new schedule that supports an aligned K-5 STEM curriculum, the HS Safe School Ambassadors Program, Edgenuity, two renovated sciences classrooms, an upgraded security system at MS/HS, expansion of transportation services, and expansion of special education placements.

Three board seats are up for election.

Candidates running unopposed include: Krista Barron (incumbent), Michelle DeFilippis (incumbent), Cecelia Gordon (incumbent)
