PTSA Unveils Anti-Bullying Mural at Elmsford's Grady School

Mural to Encourage Students to be Kind to Each Other

Six members of the Elmsford Union Free School District's PTSA showed up at the Alice E. Grady School Aug. 18 to create a large 8-by-12 mural full with anti-bullying messages intended to encourage students to be nice to one another.

The initiative is part of the group’s larger vision to display positive messages around the district’s three schools.

On the first day of class, Sept. 4, students at the school will have the opportunity to leave a painted handprint on the mural and then have their photos taken beside it.

“The PTSA is working in coordination with our school’s administrators and staff to create an environment with daily affirmations for our students,” said PTSA Secretary Lucie Rambaran, adding that the project is a first for the group.

“We hope to continue that motivation in the future and help students make positive daily choices,” she added.
