2009 Girls Red Fury coached by Katie McMahon lost this week against the Scarsdale Lazio 3-2. It was a disappointing loss because the Fury had a great passing game with many shots on goal by Rose Ritz, Erin Arnegger, and Rachel Richardson. The two goals were made by Rose Ritz. Maiyumi Marcus-Kanesaka and Sofia Cruz played goalie, and Breanne Rodriguez and Charlotte Spiridakis were great on defense. The Red Fury plays against the Manhattan Steel next weekend.
2008 Girls Red Comets coached by Joe Block hosted the Eastchester Leopards. The score is not available.

2008 Boys Fusion took an early lead against the New Rochelle Rockets when Sean Mackiewicz sent a beautiful cross to Jack Zhunio for a shot to the goal’s upper corner. A few minutes later, Mackiewicz assisted Ian Papadopoulos on a score that went just wide of the New Rochelle goalie. Fusion goalies Edwin Dutan and Dylan Largo did a great job of managing pressure from New Rochelle, who scored a slippery goal just before halftime.
In the second half Kieran Degen sent a speedy pass to Raul Socualaya for a score. Bringing pressure later in the quarter, Socualaya was able to dispossess a defender and get the ball to Jezrael Panama for a well-placed goal.
Degen, Panama, Mackiewicz, Zhunio and Julian Patino kept quick pace on the forward line. Defenders Dutan, Aiden Lee, Dylan Pasato and Justin Paute kept New Rochelle away from goal for much of the game. While New Rochelle would score two goals in the game’s last quarter, with a final score of 4-3, Fusion was lucky to hold off their opponent in dreary conditions.
Coaches Papadopoulos and Mackiewicz were pleased with their team’s persistence during a difficult game, improving their record to 3-2. Fusion travels to the Mount Pleasant Mayhem next week.
2008 Boys River Sharks coached by Ed Greenberg hosted the Lansdowne Yonkers Meteors. The score is not available.
2007 Girls Blaze
It was a rainy 5pm Mother’s Day match up as the Blaze met the Somers Cosmos for second time this Spring season. And while the Blaze were determined and came ready to play, the final was a tough 4-2 loss.
Penny McVey, Ellie Fox, Gabby Disney and Kayla McGuigan held a strong defensive line with critical support from Lizzie Molina, Juliana Marvin and Gemma Fante. Scoring highlights include a well placed shot in the first half by Zoey Murphy, assisted by Kayla McGuigan. And Julissa Casiano scored a with a solid penalty kick in the second half.
The Blaze, coached by John Sutherland and Chris Junge, hold a current 3-2-1 record, with four games remaining this season. Next up the girls travel to Manhattan to meet the West Side Red Bulls on Sunday.
2007 Boys Dynamo coached by Howard Allen had their game against the Somers Grandioli rescheduled to Saturday May 19 at 3pm. The Dynamo currently have a record of 3-1.
2007 Boys Dutchmen coached by Gary Fairley tied the White Plains Black 1-1. The Dutchmen sit atop their division with a 4-0-1 record.
2006 Girls Storm coached by Kevin Richardson tied the Rivertowns United Hurricanes 1-1. The Storm hold a 2-1-3 record for third place in their division.
2006 Boys Firebolts coached by Ricardo Gonzalez won 3-2 against the Pelham Pythons at home. The Firebolts sit atop their division with a 5-0-1 record.
2006 Boys Warriors coached by Matt Weidner defeated the Briarcliff Boltz 3-1 and improve to a 2-4 record for third place in their division.
2005 Girls Cyclones coached by Mike Levine lost to the Mahopac Fierce Eagles 4-2. Their overall record is 2-3-1.
U13B Boys Legends went 1-0 down mid-way through the 1st half at a wet Yorktown on Sunday against their co division leaders. They recovered very nicely, with birthday boy Kieran scoring his first of the season on a break, outpacing the defense and scoring with his left to the far post. Then Nikhil scored off a Kieran pull back and Kieran scored again with a right foot rocket after cutting in from the left from a Julien and Nikhil triangle assist. In the second half Kenneth popped a long range effort over the keeper and into the corner and the team dug in to see the game out with Bryan, Andy and Jai leaving everything on the field. The boys played skillful controlled attacking soccer and competed physically as they needed to. Wet but happy boys devoured doughnuts to celebrate a job well done.
2005 Boys Red Devils coached by Francisco Mendieta won against the Manhattan Valencia by a score of 6-3.
2003 Girls Strikers coached by Matt Evans lost to the Port Chester Bob Cats 1-0 away this week. They have an overall record of 3-4.
2004 Boys River Titans won against the Pelham Red Devils 5-0 at home and improve to an overall record of 2-4.
2004 Boys Argentina coached by Luis Lewis tied the White Plains Black 3-3. They sit in third place of a ten-team division with a record of 4-1-1.
JV Boys Los Gauchos coached by Luis Lewis lost to the Rivertowns United Boys 2002 United 5-4. They currently have a record of 2-2-2.
The JV Mustangs coached by John Sutherland lost 0-1 to the top ranked North Salem Sparks. It was a rough game with great effort and follows a previous 1-1 tie between the two teams. The game changed when Juliana Largess fought through a defender for a one on one with the keeper. As Juliana and the North Salem keeper raced toward each other for the ball, they collided sending Juliana to the emergency room with a shoulder injury. The referee called the foul on Juliana instead of awarding a penalty kick for the Mustangs. Without star forward Juliana, the Mustangs were unable to score despite many chances. North Salem got the winning score with 5 minutes left as their forward elbowed her way through two well positioned Mustang defenders to get a breakaway goal. Abigail Oppenheim made the defensive play of the game earlier by racing on an angle from her midfield position to strip the ball from a free North Salem forward who appeared to have an uncontested path to score. There were many impressive plays like Abigail’s but not enough to get the win. The Mustangs next face Downtown United Soccer Club in Randalls Island early Sunday morning.
Varsity Girls Comets coached by Sean Brosnan tied the New Rochelle Panthers 1-1, who currently lead the division. The Comets have an overall record of 3-2-1.
