Impressive piece is housed in the cemetery's community mausoleum
During her life, Ossining's Roberta Arminio was many things to many people.
She was the Executive Director of the Ossining Historical Society Museum, historian for the Town and Village of Ossining, Regent of the Mohegan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a past President of the Ossining American Legion Auxiliary and of Briarcliff Nursery School, the recipient of many historical and civic awards, and a loving wife and mother.
She also happened to be inspired by stained glass artwork.

When Armino passed away last month, her family thought the most moving tribute they could make to such a marvelous woman was to dedicate a stained glass window in her honor at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery's community mausoleum.
"She did a lot of stained glass for a hobby, so it's sort of a fitting memorial," said Howard Cohen, Director of Charitable Giving for Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.

The majestic window spans the chapel wall of the mausoleum and depicts landmarks of the area, including the Headless Horseman Bridge, as well as the adjacent Old Dutch Church. A special bronze dedication plaque will be affixed prominently below the window to recognize the dedication.
The stained-glass piece was made by Florida-based Conrad Pickel Studio. It was commissioned by the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery Board of Directors during the construction of the mausoleum – construction was completed a year and a half ago.
"It's the only community mausoleum in the area," Cohen said.
The mausoleum hosts above ground burials and cremated remains, and has 1,15o permanent resting places. Outside, the dark granite seamlessly blends in with the surrounding buildings and tombs. Inside, there is a new chapel that has warm wood, marble and chandeliers.
"It's an amazing building, it really blends in and compliments the cemetery," Cohen said.
