Our local travel soccer club began its third year Sunday with tremendous success on the field. Intense preseason practices paid off as sixteen out of seventeen teams played with 11 winning, 2 tying, and only 3 losses. Action continues every Sunday throughout the fall. Below are the game recaps provided by our all volunteer coaches.

2008 Girls Red Comets

Won their first game of the season 5-0 away against the Greenburgh Fire. The girls were excited to get a win under their belt with scoring coming from 4 players. Abigail Church got the Comets on the board fast with two goals. Samantha Mendieta, Samantha Marvin and Abigayle Maceyak each delivered a score. Although she did not score, Corina Armster had a great game and seemed to be all over the field chasing balls down and moving the play downfield to her teammates.

2007 Boys Dutchmen

Won their home opener against White Plains 8-2. The White Plains team only had six players show up but gamely wanted to play 6 v 8. After scoring two quick goals, the Dutchmen pulled one player and then another and the bulk of the game was played 6 v 6. The Dutchmen were at the 6 goal differential for much of the game and spent long stretches maintaining possession in a blizzard of skillful passing. We congratulate White Plains on continuing to compete and wish them luck the rest of the season.

2007 Boys Dynamo

Opened with a hard-fought 2-3 loss to the Rye Predators. In their first official game together, the boys started the scoring with a penalty kick by Dynamo midfielder, Erick Guzhnay, to take a 1-0 lead. While the Predators rallied in the second half to take a 2-1 lead, the Dynamo were not to be fazed and tied the game at two-a-piece with a solid strike from Dynamo left halfback, Jack McCarthy. With literally just seconds left, the Dynamo suffered an unfortunate call inside the box, leading to another Predators penalty kick and a heartbreaking third goal. But what a match! The Dynamo head to Ardsley this Sunday to face the Rivertowns Wolves!

2007 Girls Blaze

It was a good start for the Blaze, coached by John Sutherland and Howard Allen in the season opener against White Plains Black. After a tough fight to hold at 0-0 in the first half, the girls then scored three goals. Lizzy Molina had a strong first goal. Gemma Fante and Zoey Murphy showed great teamwork for the next two goals. Kayla McGuigan and Meghan O'Hanlon proved great defenders. Mark this a 3-0 win for Blaze. Next up? 2006 Girls Storm

The Storm, coached by Kevin Richardson, Thomas Lipping and Tom Andruss, tied the Lady Warriors by the score 2 - 2. The game went into the half with the Storm up 2 - 0, but the Lady Warriors came out with two quick goals of their own to start the second period. Kenneth played shut-down Center D, Nikhil equalized direct from a Corner , Jai laid one over the top for Kieran to accelerate and smack a left footer past the giant keeper, and then Nikhil finished off a 9 pass move with a stinger from the edge of the area.
