The fourth week of the fall season saw 16 teams play 17 games. The club again did incredibly well with 12 wins, 1 tie, and only 4 losses. Next week most teams are off for the Columbus Day break. Below are the game reports provided by our all volunteer coaches and team managers.

2008 Girls Red Comets

Defeated Chappaqua 3-0. The girls controlled the ball most of the game making life easy for their two goal keepers this week. The team played their positions well and as the game went on they got more confident with each other's play, spreading out and passing the ball up-field and to open players. Abbie Maceyak (1) and Samantha Mendieta (2) scored for the Red Comets in a game the whole team played well in. Kate Livingston had a stand out all-around performance. Coach Joe Block and Sven Armister’s team improved to 2-1-1.

2008 Boys River Sharks

Coach Edward Greenberg’s boys remained undefeated and posted their fourth win of the season 6-1 against Somers. Josh Ortiz, Eoghan Glynn and Thaddeus Kromelis battled to defend the goal, letting in only 1 among many shots saved. Henry Warden and Luca Dominguez executed a perfectly positioned defensive wall; when one attacked the ball, the other dropped back to defend. Alessandro Soto, Dhary Suqui, Keaton Greenberg & Josh Ortiz were among the goal scorers. Brandon Quitusaca and Pablo Quezada supported the offense with aggressive attacks and heads up passing. Jack Uyaguari produced and contributed at every position he played: defense, midi and striker, with terrific flexibility and focus.

2007 Boys Dutchmen

Won on Sunday against Greenburgh United. The Dutchmen jumped out to a big lead in the first half and then shifted their focus to maintaining possession. The boys executed crisp passes and practiced switching the field. Coach David Hille’s boys showed great sportsmanship and came away with a 6-0 victory.

2007 Boys Dynamo

Lost 1-2 to Mamaronek at Losee park. They look to rebound after the break against Pelham.

2007 Girls Blaze

It was a strong Week 4 for the Blaze, led by coach John Sutherland, as they comfortably defeated the Down Town United Soccer Club (DUSC) Blue. The bulk of the action was in the first half, and in the first 5 minutes of the game, there were two big scores that provided momentum for the team. Lizzy Molina kicked off the action with a quick goal at the start. Followed next by a clean goal from Juliana Marvin, who was assisted by the speedy Karina Vizcaino. Gabby Disney and Kayla McGuigan were flawless on defense and proved too strong for the opponent. They displayed great communication and a few impressive steals. The third goal was well placed by Gemma Fante. Blaze led 3-0. Emily Aridas could have been bored in the goal, but she kept her head in the game and was at the ready. The DUSC Blue players came on strong in the second half and challenged the Blaze, but ultimately could not move the play down field. The Blaze played with a lot of hustle and demonstrated great teamwork. With another goal from Lizzy Molina and two more (yes, two!) from Gemma Fante (she makes it look so easy!), the girls gained more momentum. Throughout the half the Blaze showed some awesome passing and pushed enough to hold their lead to finish the game with a 6-0 win! Great job by all! Next up – another hometown game on Sunday the 16th, when the Blaze face the Manhattan Lyons.

2006 Girls Storm

Fell to the Rye Brook Storm by the score 0-1. A game that was expected to be a battle of the Storms turned out to be a battle of the goalies. The SHFC girls came out determined in the first half with shots by #5 Ashley Richardson, #8 Emily Orellana and three other players; however, the Rye Brook goalie kept the ball clear with some solid goal-tending. The lone score was a breakaway by the opponents that drew Storm goalie #9 Siiri Lipping out of the net. In the second half the SHFC goalies decided to put on a clinic of their own, highlighted by diving saves by #4 Ava Bertiz and later by captain #14 Anastasia Mazon. Storm goalies stopped no fewer than nine shots from the Rye Brook squad. The girls showed excellent grit and determination with numerous offensive charges late in the game led by Emily Orellana and #16 Elsa Block, but were unable to get one past Rye Brook. Next week, the Storm are off for Columbus Day. The Storm are coached by Kevin Richardson, Thomas Lipping and Tom Andruss.

2006 Boys Warriors

Earned their first win of the season with a 6-2 victory over the White Plains Dragons. The Warriors scored first in the opening minutes of the game, but the Dragons rallied to score two goals and take a 2-1 lead into halftime. The second half was all Warriors, with the team netting five unanswered goals as a result of some great teamwork and strong individual play. Matt Weidner’s squad looks to build on this win when they take on Munay Ossining Atletico on 10/16.

2006 Boys Firebolts

Coached by Ricardo Gonzalez improved to 4-0 last Sunday beating Greenburg Utd Phoenix 7-2 at Hackley Field. The Firebolts came out strong keeping the ball on the Greenburg Utd's side of the field for the first 20 minutes of the game. The team’s good passing game created many scoring opportunities and six different players scored: Henry Patino ( penalty kick), Aarav Kumar, Dylan Patch ( Assisted by Aarav Kumar), Alex Lozada (2) (Assisted by Henry Patino & Nico Wang), Nico Wang ( Assisted by Henry Patino) and Tiernan Fahy. The goalies were: Tiernan Fahy, Jack Levine, Dylan Patch and Danny Chacha. Next game against Mamaroneck Blue Panthers at Hackley Field.

2005 Boys Legends

Had their game against Yonkers postponed. Sadly one of the Yonkers players lost his hero fire fighter/father in the recent Bronx gas leak explosion.

2005 Girls Cyclones

Coached by Mike Levine, Nick Tsilibes and Tracey Koch defeated the Pleasantville Warriors 2-0 in an incredibly competitive game. The teamwork and defense of the Cyclones was stellar, led by the goaltending of Lauren Koch, who made numerous difficult saves preserving the lead. Ywomie Mota, Christine Kern & Natalie Rypka played solid defense against a talented Pleasantville team. Goals were scored by Isabelle Murphy and Diana Cordero and delivered by terrific passes from Thalia Tsilibes. The team next plays on October 16th away against the Yonkers United Rush Orioles.

2004 Boys Argentina

Won their 1st match of the season playing away at Scarsdale on a muddy, slippery, and soggy field. Holding on to a 2-1 victory in a grueling and physical match against a larger opponent. The team held on despite 12 minutes of added time by the referee. Overall a solid game from all players and quality goalkeeping from Gabriel and Sebastian Lund. Excellent team attendance again.

2004 Boys River Titans

Are coached by Scott Burnett, Pepe Monteforte and Dan Black. They played against Greenburg Sunday. The action started quickly with a long throw-in by Carlo Ricchuiuti into Greenburg’s territory that led to a well positioned Julian Bermeo cross in front of the goal to Zach Burnett scoring The Titans first goal! Oli Monteforte stepped up, working the ball down field, passing to Zach Burnett, who scored The Titans 2nd goal finishing the first half. The second half began quick with Andres Illescas passing to Zach Burrnett, who kicked the ball to the back of the net. Oliver Monteforte again took control of the ball and passed to Zach Burnett in front of Greenburg’s net- seeing Zach push the ball pass the goalie after a few defensive plays to deny the goal. Carlo Ricchiuti (our team captain) played the ball well next bringing the ball up field and seeing his opportunity, passed to Oliver Monteforte who than scored The Titans 5th goal! The Titans scaled a bit back and saw Greenburg score their only goal in the third quarter. That was answered two minutes later with Zach Burnett bringing the ball down field past all defenders and passing in front of the goal to Sean Wozniak who booted the Titans sixth goal. The Titans finished the game with a play that had Julian Bermeo push a shot in front of the Greenburg goal, Zach Burnett redirecting it to Brandon Morocho’s foot for the 7th goal! Zach Burnett scored four goals---but the Titans MVP goes to Kyan Aguilrera! Great game Kyan! GO TITANS!!

2004 Girls Hurricane

Max Verna’s girls lost 2-5 to first place scarsdale. They next play 4th place Rye after the break.

2003 Girls Strikers

Have been playing strong soccer. They demonstrate good possession skills and “building toward attack” style soccer. They are out-possessing and out-shooting their opponents. The defense has also been solid not allowing the other teams to build up many threatening scoring opportunities. The Strikers need to now work on finalizing their scoring opportunities. That will be coach Matt Evans’ next objective to work on during this weekend off. The Strikers tied their game 0-0 against Castleford. They next play the 2nd place Port Chester Stallions at home after the break.

2002 Girls Mustangs

When the Manhattan based Gotham Fenix arrived at Washing Irving Field in their Zip Cars, they were impressed with the town’s new artificial turf facilities. After a 6-0 win by the Mustangs, they were more impressed with how soccer is played in the suburbs. The game featured scores by five different Mustang players with the last 20 minutes spent in a keep away drill. Maya Weitzen led scorers with 2 goals and 1 assist. Britany Alban had 1 goal and 1 assist. Lily Rodriguez, Talia Fante, and Abigail Oppenheim finished scoring with additional assists recorded by Juliana Largess and Isabella Chambers. Julia Costa, Olivia Hille, and Britany Alban were perfect at keeper and the defense of Sophie Sylves-Berry, Annie Dineen, Sam Livingston, and Emma Clarke earned their 3rd shutout of the 4 game season. Maddy Navin and Carolina Lopez applied offensive pressure throughout the game. Coach John Sutherland's squad has now climbed into sole possession of 2nd place in the top division and control their own destiny.

2002 Boys Los Gauchos

Coach Luis Lewis’s team had two matches this past weekend, winning both and taking sole possession of first place:

On Saturday they earned a 7-1 Victory at home versus Harrison. Los Gauchos scored 6 goals in the first 25 minutes and had to play keep away the rest of the way.

The team had two guests from the younger SHFC Argentina team due to injuries and they helped contribute to the victory: Alex Searle (MF) and Peter Mardjonovic (CB). Mateo Lewis and Ryan Eddington shared men of the match honors as Ryan contributed 4 goals and Mateo had 5 assists, including a stint as goalkeeper in the 2nd half. Outstanding as always was Jhonatan Yunga occupying the most demanding position of holding midfielder, from which he won numerous balls and made quality passes to the midfielders. The match was dominated by passing from Los Gauchos throughout. Solid defending was noted from Ethan, Nik, Johnny and Peter.

On Sunday Los Gauchos traveled to Scarsdale for a 4-2 victory versus a very physical and large Scarsdale team. The field was muddy and slippery. Los Gauchos jumped to a 3-0 lead thanks to a combination of Franklin Pena Goals and Mateo Lewis' assists. Some unfortunate calls contributed to two penalty calls against Los Gauchos. An own goal also factored in the scoring against the Gauchos. Rene Quinde was outstanding in Goalkeeping and stopped a second penalty kick awarded. Despite the physical and rough play Los Gauchos dominated the match via short passing and positional play. Victor Ribeiro and Derek Laboy combined to score the fourth goal, a combination of 10 passes which covered over a 100 yds. Mateo had a hand in 4 goals. Franklin had a hat trick. Paul, Jhonatan and Dylan contributed to the midfield control of the match. Outstanding play from the defensive unit of Peter, Russell, Ethan, Nik and Erik. Attacking unit featured Jack, Derek, Victor and Franklin. Paul Julian's versatility enables him to play in 5 different positions. Los Gauchos will resume play October 16th as they look to keep control of first place vs RUFC B02 United.

2001 Boys Tornados

Lost 1-4 against first place New Rochelle. Unofficial reports came in of late night video games the night before the match and very tired teenage Tornados. They next face off against Pelham.
