Improved to 3-1-1 with a 1-0 win over Scarsdale in an away game. Coach Sven Armster made all the right moves including having Abigail Church kick a penalty shot that accounted for the only goal of the game. Thanks to 3 important saves in the second half by goalie Mia Martinez, the Red Comets recorded their second shut out in a row and their third of the season. Although the score was close, the Red Comets played most of the game on offense, but were denied a goal by Scarsdale until Church's penalty kick. The team looks forward to a few consecutive home games at Losee (goose) park.

2008 Boys River Sharks

Were handed their first defeat last Sunday. Leaving some holes in the midfield and defense during the first half put the River Sharks at a deficit that was difficult to recover from. They improved their midfield and defensive play considerably in the second half. The offense sparked up in the last 20 minutes of the game and dominated the action, keeping the ball in the opponent’s end of the field. They had multiple shots on goal but not enough found their way into the net. It was exciting to watch the River Sharks ignite in the face of a deficit; all played their hearts out till the final whistle.

2007 Boys Dutchmen

Played an undefeated and well coached team from Ossining and came away with a 1-0 win. This was the toughest challenge the Dutchmen have faced this season. The boys rose to it and played a terrific game. The Dutchmen defense and goalkeeping was outstanding and snuffed out a number of Ossining opportunities.

2007 Boys Dynamo

Faced a competitive Pelham Warriors team at Losee Park this past Sunday. Despite playing their best game of the season and dominating on all fronts -- including defense, possession, hustle and especially shots-on-goal (16!) -- the Dynamo boys were unable to find the back of the net and suffered a tough 1-0 loss when the Warriors pushed one through with two minutes left. All boys contributed to this great team effort and made us all proud. Erick Guzhnay was particularly outstanding in the midfield for the Dynamo and Carlos Almonte was again a rock at center fullback.

2007 Girls Blaze

It was a well-played match for The Blaze this week as they faced the Manhattan Lyon team. In this intense match, the girls pushed hard and finished with a 2-2 tie. One parent of the opposing team called it a "nail biter" of a match! Blaze, led by John Sutherland, took an initial lead early in the game with a clean goal from Julissa Casiano. Once again, the Blaze team came to win and saw some awesome defensive plays (and huge kicks!) by Gabby Disney and Kayla McGuigan and Emily Aridas, who fended off several attempts on goals. Speed and control were in full effect, as Gemma Fante worked the entire field and a second goal was beautifully placed by Juliana Marvin. Throughout the match Zoey Murphy played a very strong offense while Karina Vizcaino worked hard for several attempts on goal. Ellie Fox and Meghan O’Hanlon hustled throughout, and there was some impressive work by Lizzy Molina. (Have you seen her expert cross?) The Blaze will meet the Manhattan Lyon team again ‪on Nov. 20‬ for the final game of the season. Next up: Blaze takes on White Plains Black ‪on Sunday, October 23.‬

2006 Girls Storm

Ran past the Mamaroneck White Wildcats by the score 6-0. The Storm put forth an impressive offensive effort led by captain #5 Ashley Richardson and simply overwhelmed the visitors, tallying sixteen shots on goal in the first half. Despite the barrage, the visiting goalie was equally impressive and made several excellent saves to keep the halfway score at 3-0. The period's goals were scored by #3 Emily Orellana and then two in quick succession by #14 Anastasia Mazon. The home team came out of halftime energized and quickly tallied two more points on a blast by #9 Siiri Lipping and then another by #16 Elsa Block. A lineup adjustment then allowed the Storm to focus on defense and ball possession. The scoring was capped by #10 Sophia Maclaurin who showed patience and good positioning in front of the box and knocked one through just out of reach of the keeper. Next week the Storm travel to oppose the Mt. Pleasant Lady Warriors. The Storm are coached by Kevin Richardson, Thomas Lipping and Tom Andruss.

2006 Boys Warriors

Played Munay Ossining Atletico to a hard fought 3-3 tie. The first half saw a lot of back and forth play, but Atletico opened the scoring and led 1-0 at the break. In the second half, the Warriors evened the score in the opening minutes on a nice cross and finish. Atletico scored next to regain the lead, but the Warriors responded and tied it up at 2-2. The Warriors took their first lead of the game with about 10 minutes left to play on another nice cross and finish, but Atletico found the equalizer a few minutes later. Though the team couldn't pull out the win, Coaches Matt Weidner and Todd Dorman felt the Warriors played their best game of the season against a strong opponent.

2006 Boys Firebolts

Improved to 5-0 by beating Mamaroneck Blue Panthers 7-3. Firebolts controlled the game in the first half by pressing on the their defense. In the second half the passing game wasn't as accurate which allowed the Panthers to score three goals. Goals: Tiernan Fahy ( Assisted by Austin Lee), Dylan Patschm Nicholas Wang ( Assisted by Ollie Gonzalez), Julian Guzman, Danny Chacha ( Penalty kick), Aarav Kumar, Alex Lozada (Assisted by Ollie Gonzalez) Goalies: Alex Lozada, Tiernan Fahy, Ollie Gonzalez, Henry Patino. Next game against Rye Flames at Hackley Field.

2005 Boys Legends

Soaked up some early pressure in their home game against JSPC Rage with Kenneth Suqui continually winning tackles and charging out of Center Defense (Kieran O'Sullivan filling in behind as needed) and Keeper Justin Cruz making a great save, low to his left, to keep the game scoreless at the half. In the 2nd period, the Legends better ball control and fitness paid dividends; Adrian Rodriguez opened the scoring - placing a free kick into top-corner- keepers side. Justin Cruz held off a defender to muscle in the 2nd from a cross from Luke Clark and Hernan Quinde poached the 3rd with a terrific volley off Nikhil Weltig's driven cross/shot. JSPC Rage scored a consolation a few minutes from time.

2005 Girls Cyclones

Coached by Mike Levine, Nick Tsilibes and Tracey Koch suffered its first defeat of the season, losing 6-2 to Yonkers United. The Cyclones played a very competitive first half, trailing 1-0 against the division’s top team, but in the second half despite a great effort, allowed 5 goals on very nice shooting and offensive play by Yonkers. The Cyclones next play Sunday, October 23rd, against the Downtown United Sports Club at Hackley field.

2004 Boys Argentina

Played away at 1st place Yonkers. It was a loss to a much stronger Yonkers team 1-7. Argentina had no substitutes and exhaustion set in the 2nd half when Yonkers scored 4 goals to pull away. Alex Searle, Peter Mardjonovic and Oliver Tecuapetla deserve special mention for their outstanding effort and quality play. Only goal came from Gabriel Lewis' outstanding free kick. Randall and Sebastian were the quality goalkeepers.

2004 Boys River Titans

Played away Sunday against Harrison, their division rival . Both teams faced off for a battle, ending in a tie. Harrison scored first midway in the first half ... only to be answered by Zach Burnett with a great goal, pushing the ball into the back of the net. The second half had Zach Burnett passing to Jason Duque for the Titans 2nd goal. Harrison scored their second goal in the 2nd half. The Titans MVP goes to Jeff Guarango for his outstanding control and dominance on the field .

2004 Girls Hurricane

Lost 2-4 to the third place Rye Dragons. They next face the Rye Brook Angels.

2003 Girls Strikers

Lost 1-2 against the second place Port Chester Stallions. They next play against the Rye Corinthians.

2002 Girls Mustangs

Are firing on all cylinders at the midseason point. Four players couldn’t make the match against Mt Pleasant leaving the Mustangs with only one sub. Britany Alban started scoring early. Talia Fante then found Lily Rodriguez for the second goal. Lily scored again giving the Mustangs a quick 3-0 lead. Unfortunately Sophie Sylves-Berry and Carolina Lopez both injured their ankles leaving the Mustangs playing 10 against 11 for the majority of the game. Mt Pleasant capitalized against the reduced Mustang squad scoring before the half, stealing momentum, and keeping the game close at 3-1. It was almost tied up at 3-3 but keeper Julia Costa made a great save on a high shot and sweeper Grace Ryan prevented a scoring opportunity with a smart foul from behind. With their season on the line the Mustangs took over in the second half. Britany scored her second goal weaving through the Mt Pleasant defense after a pass from Lily Rodriguez. Talia scored next with a beautiful left footer off a pass from Maya Weitzen. Lily completed her hat trick with a third goal off Juliana Largess’s assist. The Mustangs remain in second place and have a big weekend coming up. First there is a showdown with first place undefeated Briarcliff Saturday at 3:00 at WI. If they wish to remain in the championship hunt they will need to win. Sunday they face Greenberg at Washington Irving Field at 12:00.

2002 Boys Los Gauchos

Hosted RUFC United. Injuries have decimated the squad with all starting CBs and Holding Midfielders out as well as two players playing sick. The team again played with only one substitute. Multiple players had to play in different and unfamiliar positions to the best of their abilities. Multiple scoring opportunities were wasted. Overall Los Gauchos played extremely sloppy and turned the ball over repeatedly. RUFC Utd deserved the victory 5-3. Men of the match honors went to Rene Quinde for his outstanding goalkeeping and Ryan Eddington and Russell Gomory for playing the entire match in difficult positions. Next week Los Gauchos visit the undefeated Yonkers u15B to decide 1st place.

2001 Boys Tornados

Traveled to Pelham and were surprised by an early Pelham goal after a cross and a couple of missed clearing attempts. The Eagles doubled their lead before the end of the first half with a nice goal off a counter. Michael Richards cut the lead to one off a free kick to the short side from about 25 yards out. The score remained 2-1 through the first 15 minutes of the second half when DJ Cronin put one past a string Eagle keeper from just inside the box. The Eagles looked like they might pull this one out when they scored with about 5 minutes to go off a breakaway off of a counter. The Tornadoes stormed back 2 minutes later when DJ Cronin added his second from short distance after a scramble inside the penalty area. The Tornadoes had a few other opportunities to score but could not beat the Eagles keeper and the score ended 3-3. The Tornadoes next game is at WI on Sunday October 23rd at 10:00 against the undefeated Harrison Fire.
