The team gave great effort. They pressed forward offensively – leaving stoppers Siiri Lipping and Gabby Disney to halt potential breakaways. Juliana Marvin made key saves early in the 2nd Half to keep the game scoreless.
The tie ended when Julissa Casiano scored quickly upon entering the game midway through the 2nd Half. She received the ball at the top of the penalty area, got past a defender and made a shot to the far post.
The Blaze play the Rye Firecrackers next Sunday.
U0 Boys – Dutchman
The Dutchmen defeated the Chappaqua United Silve, 2-0.
It was a well played match. Chappaqua controlled the ball for the majority of the first half.
The Dutchmen rallied for two goals in the second half; the first, a tough angle shot by Ares E,
the second, a beautiful pass by Ares then a strong lefty finish by the streaking Tiernan F.
U10 Girls – Magic
The Magic defeated the Rivertowns Utd Comets at Losee Field by the score of 6-0 to bring their record to 2-3. Home field advantage helped the Magic get their offensive mojo back as they really turned up their play to tally three goals in each half. The scoring was again paced by co-captain #17 Caitlyn O’Hanlon who had a pair of goals for the third time this season. #3 Emily Orellana carded two goals for the Magic, while #6 Shea Bertolacci and #12 Natalie Rypka netted one each. On defense, the other Magic co-captain #5 Emily Rypka showed her assertive style to turn away the Comets’ advances. Emily’s strong clearing kicks set up several of the Magics’ scoring plays. Strong play by striker #10 Nicolette Cioffi also helped keep the ball in the opponent’s end of the field most of the game. Next week the girls will double up with a makeup game on Saturday at Peabody Field against the Greenburgh Storm, and the regular game Sunday in Yonkers against the Harriers.
U10 Boys – Sentinels
The Sentinels had a bit of a slow start as Yonkers scored early with a nice pass in the box and quick shot to the bottom corner just out of reach of keeper Andrew Pulla. With one of the best passing efforts of the season, the Sentinels tied it up of a big shot from Robert Disney just outside the box. Robert was not done for the day as he scored again off a rebound inside the box to put the Sentinels ahead 2-1. Lang Cawly had a great chance to increase the lead off a nice pass from Kallen Fairley, his one-time shot just glanced the post and went out to touch. The Sentinels next game is Sunday November 1 versus Edgemont at 1:30.
U10 Boys – Warriors
The Warriors came away with a 3-3 tie against Larchmont Blue lightning. 3 unlucky goals in the first half against the Warriors with one back from Callum Gallagher meant 3-1 down at half time. The team came back with renewed energy as the Jercinovic boys pushed defense and midfield. Luke Wuerfell and Sebastian Hernandez stopped the many attacks from Larchmont and Declan McCarthy was mixing it up in the center. Callum Gallagher fought hard and gained another goal back. With one minute to final whistle a penalty was awarded to Warriors and Callum Gallagher slotted it away to get the hat trick. Warriors are now 4-1-1.
U11 Girls – Cyclones
On Sunday, the Cyclones lost their first game of the year, in a very competitive 2-1 loss to the Eastchester. Eastchester went ahead 1-0 within the first minute and both teams exchanged shots for the rest of the first half and most of the second. Thalia Tsilibes scored with about 4 minutes remaining to tie the game 1-1. As the game was winding down, Eastchester was awarded a direct kick from 20 meters from the goal, and scored to make it 2-1, which ended up being in the last 30 seconds. Ajsa Orban played terrific goalie and Ywomie Mota also played aggressively in defense. The Cyclones next play on November 1st at Peabody against Rye Brook.
U11 Boys – Legends
The Legends uncharacteristically conceded 4 times away to Larchmont on the weekend: luckily for them they had brought their shooting boots, hitting the net on 9 occasions to move to 6 wins on the trot for the season. Good set up play led up goals from Adrian, Brandon(2), Hernan, Jai, Julian(2), Kyan, and Max.
U12 Boys – River Titans
The River Titans won 6-4 , away Sunday against the Greenburg United. The contest proved to be a tough battle. This aggressive match had a score of Greenburg 3 - Titans 2 , at the close of the first half. Not getting discouraged the Titans fought back with four goals scored in the second half. Greenburg wasn’t about to give up, and they answered with a goal of their own in the second half. The outcome wasn’t clear until the end when the Titans sealed the win with two late goals. Goals were scored by - Oliver M. (2) , Christian S (1) w/ assist from Andres I. , Sean G. (1) , Victor R. (1) and Zach B.(1) w/ assist by Matt L. As always - a big shout out to our goalie , Todd S!
U13 Girls – Mustangs
The Mustangs earned a scoreless tie against the second place Briarcliff Burn on Sunday at Briarcliff High School. The Mustang offense couldn’t solve the Burn’s offside trap but the defense earned their fourth shutout of the season. Keeper Carolina Lopez and defenders Annie Dineen, Maddy Navin, Emma Clarke, Catherine Grimes, and Sam Livingston have only allowed 2 goals in six games. Even without a score in this match, the offense leads the division in scoring with 16 goals. The Mustangs now find themselves tied for second place with their next opportunity coming vs Mamaroneck on Sunday at Hackley field.
U14 Girls – Horsemen
The U14 Girls Horsemen pulled out a last-minute tie with a greatly improved Chappaqua Hurricane team Sunday at Hackley School.
The Horsemen played from behind the entire match after a first half breakaway put the Hurricane in front despite the best efforts of goalie Peyton Koch. The Hurricanes doubled their advantage with 20 minutes to go in the second half off an own goal.
Despite keeping the ball in their opponent’s final third for the majority of the match, the Horsemen didn’t score until 17 minutes left in the game when central midfielder Grace Morgan carried the ball through the entire Hurricane defense and put the ball by the keeper. The Hurricane looked poised to weather the storm and secure a win until the tireless efforts of Margaret Rutland Maus created a scoring chance that Bailey Zednik capitalized on in the final ten seconds of the match.
The draw dropped the Horsemen to third in their division.
The Horsemen will host the Mount Pleasant Tornado at Hackley Field Sunday, November 1 at 1:30pm.
U14 Boys – Tornadoes
The RUFC has some bad luck early as the Bearcats scored off an own goal in the second minute of the game. The Tornadoes had a lot of the possession in the first half which remained 1-0. The Bearcats had a chance to increase the lead off a PK but Nolan Fairley came up big to keep the game close. The Bearcats were not to be denied and scored off a nice through ball at the 10 minute mark in the second half. Abhi Weltig had a chance to put the Tornadoes on the scoreboard but his PK shot hit the post and stayed out. The Bearcats added another tally late in the half. The Tornadoes had several chances to score, especially off the foot of Michael Richards with a number of speedy attacks down the left side. A disappointing 3-0 loss to the league-leading Bearcats. The Tornadoes next game is Sunday November 1 in Yorktown versus the Crew at 3:15.
