2004 Boys River Titans
B-04 The River Titans remain undefeated this season with a win against Castleford on Sunday. The score was 6-0 . The Titans controlled and maintained possession the entire game. The Titans are coached by Scott Burnett and Pepe Monteforte.
2003 Girls Strikers
The GU14 Strikers had a great game for their mothers Sunday. Coaches Matt & Matt didn't have much trouble with Silent Sunday. The girls where communicating well and having a good possession of the ball. The first half the attack lead by Melanie, Emma C, Jackie, Daphne and Alicia had several good scoring opportunities, but couldn't find the back of the net. The defense lead by Grace, Muriel, Lizzy, Kaitlyn, and Nataly, played a strong and not allowing many shots on goal. The shots that got off, goalkeeper Asja was in great position to make the save. The fist half finished 0-0 tie.
Second have is when the game opened up. The Strikers had a few players that arrived a few minutes late which the referee didn't allow them to play until half time when he was able to properly check them in. So the team gained three strong reinforcements, Caroline, Emma S-M, and Joana. Joana stepped in as GK was aggressive in her penalty area and did very well to continue the shutout! Caroline jumped in to help the attack which added the extra spark that helped the attack create three goals. Melanie earned her first hat-trick for the season making all three of the goals. But it was a true team effort with assists by Caroline, Emma C, and Daphne. Emma S-M helped all over the pitch, playing three different positions.
The Strikers are only 4 points behind the 1st place team which they play in 2 weeks. This week they take on John Jay G03 Surge 3:45 at Washington Irving School lower field.

Highlights:
2002 Girls Mustangs
Put it all together in a rematch against the defending division 1 champs and top rival the Briarcliff Burn, coming out ahead 3-1. The Mustangs were winning 1-0 in April but gave up a late goal to tie 1-1. This time the Mustangs outplayed their opponent in the first half but still found themselves in a scoreless tie at the half. In the second half with the wind against them, the Mustangs scored first when Briarcliff's keeper attempted to beat Talia Fante to a ball 18 yards out to the right of her goal. This was a mistake..... as Talia beat the keeper to the ball, faked her out, and crossed left to Arianna Vizcaino for the tap-in score. The Burn quickly tied the game off a controversial penalty kick. Unlike 4 previous games this spring, the Mustangs refused to have another tie, and quickly struck back when Carolina Lopez crossed to Talia Fante. Later the Mustangs got some insurance when Abigail Oppenheimer beat the Briarcliff offside trap with a through ball to Juliana Largess. Juliana beat the keeper for the third score. Mustang star keeper Julia Costa and defenders Olivia Hille, Annie Dineen, Emma Clarke, Grace Ryan and Sophie Sylves-Berry stymied the Burn offense all day. Maya Weitzen and Britany Alban controlled the midfield while Sophia Khosrowshahi, Lily Rodriguez, Isabella Chambers and Evelin Chacha provided constant pressure eventually breaking their opponent's vaunted defense. The Briarcliff coaching staff was visibly frustrated as the defending champs had not allowed 3 goals in a game since April of 2016. With the big win the Mustangs move into the top half of division 1 and look to continue momentum Sunday against Riverdale.
