The Sleepy Hollow Football Club - Week 7
The Sleepy Hollow Football Club wrapped up a beautiful Halloween weekend with a string of exciting games

Below are game updates provided by the all volunteer coaching crew.
U9 Girls – Blaze
With the Blaze off to a 6-0 start to the season, Coach Kevin thought it would be smart to change the team’s standard formation for the Week 7 game versus the Rye Firecrackers. It was not his best idea.

The Blaze fell behind early 1-0 in the midst of some position confusion.
The team responded with several shots on Rye’s goal with no success. Even a penalty shot was blocked. Kayla McGuigan finally put one shot over the keeper to tie the game 1-1 at the end of the 1st Half.

Elsa Block (Week 7 team captain) kept the game scoreless with key saves early in the 2nd Half. But Rye returned the favor and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Blaze are looking forward to a game versus Chappaqua on Sunday.
U9 Boys - Fire Bolts and Dutchmen
The U9 Dutchmen and the U9 Firebolts played an intra-town game on Sunday. The boys on both sides played with spirit and skill and the game (at least from the Dutchmen’s perspective) was more competitive than the score suggests. In the end, the Firebolts came away with a well-deserved 5-0 victory. The Dutchmen fought valiantly to repel the Firebolts’ consistent offensive pressure but ultimately could not keep the Firebolts’ strong finishers from scoring. The Dutchmen congratulate the Firebolts on the win and wish them luck the rest of the year (or at least until we meet again!).
U10 Girls – Magic
The SHFC Magic fell to the Yonkers Utd Rush Harriers 3-1 at Tibbetts Brook Park. In an evenly matched contest, the Magic got off to a fast start controlling the pace in the opponent’s half for the opening minutes. #17 Caitlyn O’Hanlon capped the offensive push with a shot on goal from the right side of the goalie box, but the Harriers keeper made the save. As the first period progressed the Harriers moved out in front with a pair of solid blasts past Magic keeper #4 Christine Kern and the game went to halftime with the score 2-0. After the break the Magic came out with another burst of energy led by #10 Nicolette Cioffi and #14 Anastasia Mazon who connected on one from the front of the net. Despite constant pressure from the Magic’s front line and some quick moves by #11 Talia Lieberman, the Magic were not able to mount a final comeback. Captains for the Magic today were #6 Shea Bertolacci and #12 Nathalie Rypka. Next week the Magic take on Ossining at Losee Park.
U10 Boys – Warriors
Another tie result for the U10B Warriors as they played away against Port Chester coming away with a 1-1 draw. Port Chester played a deep game with long shots at goal and keepers Callum Gallagher and Declan McCarthy made some excellent saves. Randall Nugra played defense;holding the back line with John Arnegger and Leo Jercinovic. Tucker Junge and Sebastian had the wings in control mixing things up. Long into the second half Hugo Jercinovic playing forward scrambled; getting the ball into Callum Gallagher who slotted it away. Warriors are now 4-2-1 for the season.
U11 Girls – Cyclones
On Sunday, the U11 Girls improved to 5-1, winning 3-1 against the Rye Brook Breakers. The Cyclones played terrific team play for both halves, both offensively and defensively. Thalia Tsilibes, Julia Schroeder and Isabelle Murphy each scored a goal. The defensive play was again terrific. The Cyclones play next Sunday, November 8th at Peabody against the Briarcliff Blaze.
U11 Boys – Legends
U 11 B Legends hosted Rye Brook last weekend. Half time brought a 0-0 stalemate and Rye Brook had the lead with just 15 minutes to go; it looked like the unbeaten record was going up in smoke in the post Trick or Treat haze…….. But then the Fab 5 super subs came on (Hernan, Javier, Kyan, Massimo, and Nikhil). Twelve minutes later Javier had a brace, Hernan a hat-trick, and on Halloween weekend the Legends keep marching on with a 5-1 final. Next week they play closest challenger Somers away at noon (Red Bulls play at 3 – we’re hoping for a double victory!)
U12 Boys – River Titans
The Tarrytown River Titans won their home game Sunday 5-1 against the aggressive West Side Red Bulls. The Titans continued their quest to dominate their division. The Titans have comfortably maintained the #1 position. The Titans are also within a fraction of a point away of leading with sportsmanship with only two games left. GO TITANS!! Goals were scored by Christian S (2) one w/assist by Oli M. - Victor R (1) - Zach B (1) w/assist by Victor R - Matt L (1)!!!
U13 Girls – Mustangs
The under age 13 girls Mustangs defeated the Mamaronek White Lions 3-1 on Sunday at Hackley. Caroline Grimes scored two goals off assists from Talia Fante and Maddy Navin. Julia Costa finished scoring for the Mustangs while sharing time at keeper with Catherine Grimes. Both were filling in for ailing Carolina Lopez. The White Lions lone goal came off a direct kick with 5 seconds left in the game and there was controversy as to whether the ball crossed the line. The Second place Mustangs next travel to Rye Brook to face the fourth place Riot.
U14 Girls – Horsemen
The U14 Girls Horsemen beat the Mount Pleasant Tornado 6-0 this past Sunday at Hackley School field. Jessica Cowles, Sarah Laub, Anna Lazin and Anabel Ives were among the goal scorers. The Horsemen moved up to second place in their division with the victory and face the Rye Wildcats in Rye this coming Sunday.
