Sleepy Hollow Grad 1 Of 4 Dartmouth Valedictorians
She said she wants to become a professor of political science.

SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY — Katherine Clayton, a Sleepy Hollow resident and Sleepy Hollow High School graduate, was one of Dartmouth College’s four valedictorians for the Class of 2018 that graduated Sunday, June 10, in Hanover, NH. Clayton, a government and French major, plans to compete in the ITU World Triathlon Championships in Australia in September, then complete a one-year research fellowship working in the government department at Dartmouth, followed by a PhD program in political science at Stanford University.
Clayton heaped praise on Dartmouth's faculty.
"Almost every day, I’m blown away by how accessible, supportive, and interesting they are," she said. "Their desire to work on advanced research with undergraduates is one of the main reasons Dartmouth has been such a special place for me."

Clayton said that in her four years at Dartmouth she worked closely with professors on large-scale projects about campus diversity, fake news, early hominin fossils, immigration and French gastronomy, to name just a few.
"These special relationships convinced me that I want to pursue a PhD and become a professor of political science so I can forge the same types of bonds with students,” she said.
