Students Pay Tribute to Elmsford Board of Education

Elmsford's Board of Education Receives Many Gifts from District's Students

Students from the Elmsford Union Free School District's three schools honored the Board of Education by presenting them with various gifts at its meeting Nov. 1.

The presentation coincided with School Board Recognition Week, a state initiative that recognizes the volunteer efforts of board members.

Students at the Carl L. Dixson School created a special collage, including pictures of the board members. The display also included the names of students in each class incorporated into the words “Thank You.”

Dixson Principal Jeffrey Olender said he was grateful to the Board for their support of his school.

“From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for all the time and effort that you put in. Our students really appreciate it,” he said.

Students from the third grade presented the Board with copies of the book, “The Leaf Man,” by Lois Ehlert, and also read their own words of appreciation.

“We know that you make many important decisions that impact our education,” read one student. “We also know that you are volunteers. This means you really care about us and our families. This is just a small token of our appreciation from us to you.”

Other gifts included a display of student handprints, posters, and baked goods that students in Anthony Shallo’s home and careers class made and presented to the Board.

“Our Board of Education never accepts anything but the best for the children of the Elmsford Schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Marc Baiocco. “They are always working to provide our children with a quality education.”

The district’s Board members include President Dennis Rambaran, Vice President Marla Peers, along with trustees Candice Wood, Yvette Eannazzo and James B. Henson.
