Tarry Crest's swim team enjoyed a solid summer as it went 3-2 in the Northern Westchester Swim Conference.
"We had a great summer," Tarry Crest coach Colleen McGlynn said. "We had a lot of young kids that did very well. They were able to perfect their stroke. Overall, we were very proud of the kids' effort this season."
One reason for the success is due to the team's solid turnouts at its practices during the weekday mornings.

"The kids put in a lot of work," McGlynn said. "It really paid off. I saw a lot of improvements. Our practices went from 8-9:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and our team showed up the whole time."
Besides working hard, the team also knew how to enjoy each other's company.

"In addition to the hard work that they put in everyday, we had fun," McGlynn said. "We played games after the latter part of the practice. It was a fun season."
McGlynn thought the season was an enjoyable one was because of the excitement the swimmers brought to the pool.
"Everyone really came together and cheered their teammates on," McGlynn said. "That was really cool to see everyone cheering for one another."
Tarry Crest was able to secure a winning record by being victorious in its first three meets against Twin Oaks (228-217), Mount Kisco Country Club (207-145) and Seven Bridges (242-161).
The meet that stood out most to McGlynn though was Tarry Crest's last meet of the summer when it lost to Division IV champ Mount Pleasant by just five points, 242-237.
"I thought that was the coolest meet," McGlynn said. "We just showed so much unity, that is when the cheering was at its loudest. Everyone was so into it. It was a close meet, down to the wire. That was the meet that was the most fun."
One of the swimmers that stood out this summer is Demi McClung, who swam in the 12-and-under division.
"She was our high scorer for the girls," McGlynn said. "She swam up a few meets and still won first place. She had a great summer."
McClung and several others won their age group at the NWSC championships at Twin Oaks.
"It was exciting because the swimmers were very proud of themselves and that was nice to see," McGlynn said.
McGlynn swam for Tarry Crest before coaching it this summer and is glad she took the time to do it.
"Just seeing all the positive results that came out of this season from the kids was very satisfying," McGlynn said. "I really liked all the kids that I coached this year. That was fun. It was a very fun year."
