Tarrytown-based Regeneron Announced Progress in Rheumatoid Arthritis Drug

A new drug that could treat people with rheumatoid arthritis has been accepted for a biologic license application by the Food and Drug Administration.

Tarrytown-based Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Sanofi SA announced Jan. 8 that their drug sarilumab will be studied to see if it meets FDA requirements and can subsequently be marketed.

Business Finance News said said the drug’s safety and efficacy has not been established by any regulatory agency, but data to be submitted is from 2,500 adults who suffer from moderate-to-sever rheumatoid arthritis.
