The new school year begins in less than a month. Here are dates you need to know.
You may be thinking about how many more days you can go to the beach, but the first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2016-17 school year in the Tarrytown Union Free School District.
- Labor Day (school closed): Sept. 5
- First day of school: Sept. 6
- Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Oct. 3-4
- Columbus Day (school closed): Oct. 10
- Yom Kippur (school closed): Oct. 12
- Veterans Day (school closed): Nov. 11
- Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 23-25
- Staff Development Day: (no school for students): Dec. 23
- Holiday recess: Dec. 26-30 (school resumes Jan. 3)
- Staff Development Day (no school for students): Jan. 13
- Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 16
- Presidents Day (school closed): Feb. 20
- Winter recess: Feb. 21-24
- New York State ELA testing: March 28-30
- Spring break: April 10-14
- Snow Make-up Day #3: April 11
- Snow Make-up Day #2: April 10
- Snow Make-up Day #1: April 13
- Math test: May 2-4
- Memorial Day weekend (school closed): May 29
- Last day of school for students: June 23
