Tarrytown School Board & Budget Election Results Are In

The voters decided on the $98M Tarrytown schools budget and which candidates will serve on the board of education.

TARRYTOWN, NY — The ballots are in and voters have decided on the 2024 budget and school board.

Three seats were up for election on the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns Board of Education.

The proposed spending plan of $97,621,842 was approved by voters. The new budget is 4.44 percent higher than the current budget.

The tax levy is expected to rise 4.91 percent.

District officials said that the budget will support: salaries, equipment, contractual, supplies and materials, tuition, textbooks, BOCES services, debt service, benefits, transfer to capital and interfund transfers.

School district officials said that several improvements are planned: adding needed sections of Spanish classes at the MS/HS, a new social worker at the HS, increased dual language learning in kindergarten, a new schedule that supports an aligned K-5 STEM curriculum, the HS Safe School Ambassadors Program, Edgenuity, two renovated sciences classrooms, an upgraded security system at MS/HS, expansion of transportation services, and expansion of special education placements.

Three board seats were up for election.

Candidates running unopposed included Krista Barron (incumbent), Michelle DeFilippis (incumbent), and Cecelia Gordon (incumbent).
