Greenburgh, N.Y.: Thank you, President Biden, Republicans and Democrats who voted for the $1 trillion infrastructure package. Earlier this year, they approved a stimulus package to help local governments. As a result, the town of Greenburgh is able to reduce the tax rate by 5% in 2022 and keep the tax levy flat. Westchester County and other local governments around the state are also able to avoid property tax hikes in 2022. All local governments in the state have significant infrastructure needs — our roads and bridges need to be improved. Pedestrian safety initiatives need to be pursued, which are expensive. Municipal and school buildings that are in bad shape need work. These funds will be used efficiently by town and other local governments around the nation and will help local governments avoid significant property tax hikes. I’m excited to have the opportunity to apply for the funding. I’m even more pleased that some Republicans and Democrats worked together to put aside partisan differences for the good of the country. We all want to see an end to government stalemates. Paul Feiner, town supervisor
