Transformer Malfunction in Greenburgh Sunday Could Cause Traffic Delays

Officials said power has been restored but an outage will occur when a new tranformer is installed.

Motorists should avoid Lawton Avenue near the intersection of Central Park Avenue in Greenburgh Sunday due to work by Con Edison

Councilman Francis Sheehan said a squirrel apparently caused a transformer malfunction in the area temporarily trapping cars in the Sacred Heart Church parking lot.

He said Police Chief Christopher T. McNerney said power was to have been restored by 11 a.m.

Sheehan said Con Edison will return Sunday to swap out the transformer and there will be a temporary power outage when that happens.
