update: Con Ed power outages --trees down, wires down, crews work

Could take a few days before most people have power

UPDATE -STORM AND POWER OUTAGES -- OVER 4,500 UNINCORPORATED GREENBURGH RESIDENTS OUT OF POWER (9:35 pm)

DPW crews are wrapping up for the night soon and will resume storm cleanup tomorrow morning. One tree crew will continue to work through the night with a Con Ed electric crew. They are working to open Ridge Rd, Worthington and others still closed due to downed wires and trees.

Priority in the morning will continue focusing on blocked roads. We expect all blocked roads will be cleared by the end of day Wednesday. Over the next weeks highway will team up with available work crews from other Town Departments to clean up the debris. The street sweepers will follow the debris crews.

Reminder to all residents to cut up and bundle debris as this improves the cleanup time. The sanitation department will pick up recycling tomorrow as usual.

There are over 4,500 unincorporated Greenburgh residents who are currently out of power. Before Con Ed can restore power they need to remove trees blocking roads and repair wires. My guess is that most people out of power will not have power back on for at least two days --hopefully I'm wrong. Please call 989-1700 (Greenburgh police) with any safety concerns.

My house is also without power. I will try to respond, as quickly as possible, to every e mail and question I get. And, always answer my cell phones (will work hard to make sure it is charged). My phone number is 914-438-1343 (gov) or 914-478-1219 (home cell).
