Veterans day ceremony in Greenburgh Wed-- watch 150 interviews
150 veterans of WWII and the Korean conflict were interviewed for half hour each
The Greenburgh Veterans Advisory Committee will be observing Veterans Day, on November 11, 2020, 2PM, at Desanti Plaza in Hartsdale. The event program has been modified from prior years and is consistent with other Veterans Day events being held in Westchester County on that day, observing all social distancing & Covid safety precautions. Very few speakers. On Veterans Day the Town of Greenburgh will replay the approximately 150 veterans living history stories non stop on Optimum channel 76 and on Verizon channel 35 beginning right after Tuesday's Town Board meeting and continuing till Thursday morning. Sadly, many of the local heroes who participated in the interviews over the past decade have passed away. Among those who are no longer with us are William Robinson and Malcolm Schryer who passed away in recent months. Both were also very involved in veterans activities and in Greenburgh community efforts and are missed. It's our hope that students and members of the community will appreciate the significant role our local veterans played in protecting our democracy. Each of the approximately 150 living history stories of Greenburgh veterans is approximately a half hour long.
