Volunteer Firefighter Who Led Friday's Bridge Rescue Made Chief
It was a long day, but it included a promotion.

TARRYTOWN, NY — The multi-agency, multiple person rescue of an injured construction worker on the Tappan Zee Bridge Friday was coordinated by a Tarrytown volunteer firefighter who was made department chief a few hours later.
David Goldstein became chief in an 8 p.m. ceremony replacing Kelly Murphy, the first woman fire chief for the department, lohud.com said.
The swearing-in was on a day that saw three times as many fire calls for the department than on a typical day.
