Volunteers Needed to Drive People to Medical Appointments

Drivers, who are 21 or older, are needed to help neighbors.

GREENBURGH, NY — Volunteers are needed to drive older adults to medical appointments in Westchester County.

WestFair Rides, a 5-year-old not-for-profit charitable organization seeks volunteers to drive adults aged 60 and up adults 21 and older with vision impairment to doctors, dentists, physical therapy, radiation and chemotherapy appointments in Westchester County.

The demand for rides is growing rapidly, according to organizers. Drivers should be county residents who are 21 or older who can give a bit of time to drive an older neighbor to medical appointments.

From the release:

Carefully screened, volunteers drive their own cars and can choose rides that fit their own personal schedules. Our volunteer drivers feel valued. Often we hear: “I get more satisfaction out of driving older folks than I had ever imagined.”
Please spread the word and join the corps of dedicated volunteer drivers who help others get to medical appointments safely and comfortably. One of our riders described it this way: “I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your volunteer drivers. I feel safe and cared for and I arrive at the doctor’s relaxed and ready. I have made new friends and the camaraderie that develops is extraordinary.”
