Inexpensive Breakfasts in Tarrytown on Weekends

Deciding where to go for an inexpensive breakfast on weekends in downtown Tarrytown can be difficult. There are not many choices.

But the following guide can help; it provides information on low-cost places that open early on Saturday and Sunday. The opening hours shown are apt to change as the weather warms up so checking ahead is advised. 

This guide is intended for the budget-minded. Restaurants serving expensive fare such as high-cost, late-morning brunches are not covered.

Tarrytown street parking meters including short-term (15-minute) meters as a general rule do not require feeding with coins on Sundays or holidays.

Here are places to consider for breakfast:

Bella's Restaurant. Popular choices for a low-cost breakfast at this down-to-earth, cosy eatery include eggs any style with ham, bacon or sausage ($6.95) or a three-egg omelette ($7.95 and up). Home fries or French fries and toast are included. Opens on Saturday at 6 a.m. and Sunday at 7 a.m. 5 South Broadway, Tarrytown, 914-332-0444. Also available at Bella's:

  • Eggs Benedict, two poached eggs, Canadian bacon, Hollandaise sauce on an English muffin ($11.95)
  • Belgian waffles ($5.75), with fruit and whipped cream ($8.75)

  • Buttermilk pancakes ($4.50), with fruit ($7.50)
Coffee Labs Roasters. Alice and Mike Love's highly popular coffee shop has been the winner of many coffee-competition awards including a gold medal at the Ultimate Barista Challenge, China ’08 held in Shanghai in 2009. It has exotic coffees from all over the world and pastries. Many of its unique coffees can be purchased by the pound. Pastry Chef.
 This bakery is best known for its cakes, cookies and pies. Come early for coffee or cappuccino with pastry and return later for lunch. Opens on Saturday and Sunday at 7 a.m. 57 North Broadway, Tarrytown, NY. 914-631-6556. Offers five luncheon specials, each priced at $5.95:
  1. Barbecue chicken with bacon and cheddar cheese
  2. Grilled cheese with bacon and tomato
  3. Grilled chicken with mozzarella and tomato
  4. Ham, Swiss cheese, tomato and spicy mustard
  5. Turkey, bacon and cheddar
Subway. This major-chain-member eatery opens on Saturday at 8 a.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m. 11 South Broadway, Tarrytown, NY. 914-631-3108. It has a "prix-fixe," $4 lunch special consisting of:
  • Six-inch sub
  • Twenty-one-ounce fountain cola

Believe Juice & Books.
 A 9-ounce Smoothie (or juice) costs $2.99; in a 20-ounce size, the price is $5.99. Open on Saturday and Sunday (Sunday's opening is at 10 a.m.).

Casa Victoria 
(grocery). Spanish specialties. Opens on Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. 45 Main Street, Tarrytown, NY. 914-366-8219.

C-Town
 (supermarket). Large supermarket with a food bar and other prepared foods. Has a separate seating area. Opens on Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 a.m. 114 North Broadway, Tarrytown, NY. 914-332-7400.

7-Eleven.
 Located across the street from Lefteris, it offers a two-hot-dog and Big Gulp soft drink (21 ounces) combination for $2.99. 1 South Broadway, Tarrytown, NY. 914-631-3108.

Mint
 (market and eatery). An international-food shop with table seating for patrons. Specials change daily and appear on a blackboard. Mint carries food items imported from all over the globe including cured meats, candies, cheese, breads, honey and olive oil. Opens on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. 19 Main Street, Tarrytown, NY. 914-703-6499.

Lefteris
. Not open for breakfast. But this corner Greek-food eatery is so widely known for its inexpensively priced dishes, we hate to leave it out of this article. A "small" (it's not really that small) Greek salad ($7.95) or a beef/lamb or chicken gyro wrapped in pita ($7.25 each) are among its most popular dishes. A short drive away are: 
  • Eldorado West, a diner at 360 South Broadway, Tarrytown, NY. It opens daily at 6 a.m., 914-332-5838 
  • The Bagel Emporium at 350 South Broadway, Tarrytown, NY. Has ample seating. Located in a shopping mall. 914-333-0033 
  • The Horseman Restaurant and Pizza. A diner at 276 North Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, near Beekman Avenue. 914-631-2984
There are also four Tarrytown hotels that serve breakfast: the Doubletree on Broadway, the Westchester Marriott and the Tarrytown Sheraton on Route 119 and the Castle Hotel and Spa on Benedict Avenue.
